EDL 500 – Strategic Leadership

​​This course examined how data analysis, and the application of evidenced-based goals and actions influenced school culture, student achievement, and staff performance. Students examine school data to identify gaps in student achievement, collaborate with stakeholders to develop a strategic plan, identify evidence-based strategies to improve student and staff performance, and utilize distributive leadership principles to support collaboration and engagement among staff members.

EDL 520 – Instructional Leadership

This course examined instructional leadership in K-12 schools with special attention to promoting the success of every student through data-driven decision-making and evidence-based instructional practices. Students will focus on strategies and methods to build collaborative cultures of inquiry, establish teacher evaluation and feedback skills, develop master school schedules, and create needs-based professional learning opportunities.

Equity Leadership 

This course introduces the ethical, social, and technical dimensions of current educational leadership practice. Topics include creating an inclusive and welcoming school climate, promoting the overall development of every student, providing instruction that meets the needs of diverse student populations, and fostering a culture that encourages continual improvement.

Team Collaboration

EDL 540 – Human Resource Leadership

This course addresses the critical role that school principals serve as Human Resource (HR) leaders for all school staff. While many districts maintain centralized HR departments, principals must possess a strong working knowledge of human resource leadership functions, including school culture and climate, personnel legislation, special education law, staff rights and responsibilities, and effective hiring and retention practices. This course provided in-depth exploration of these topics while allowing me to apply HR leadership concepts to real-world administrative scenarios. By the conclusion of the course, I developed a practical and applicable knowledge base in human resources leadership that will directly support my future work as a school administrator.
